Name: Tom Marvolo Riddle, A.K.A Lord Voldemort
Date of Birth: December 31, 1926
Age: 70
Occupation: Dark Lord
Appearance-
Height: 6’5”
Hair: None
Eyes: Scarlet, slit-like pupils, bloodshot
Overall Appearance:
Lord Voldemort’s appearance has changed drastically throughout his life, up until the point where he looks barely human. He is extremely pale, with almost skeletal features. He barely has a nose left, instead just having slits for nostrils, like a snake. He has thin hands, with long fingers and nails. He has no hair or lips. He tends to wear black, billowing robes and cloaks.
Personality:
Voldemort is a psychopath, in all senses of the word. He doesn’t feel empathy, love, or remorse, and he is violent and selfish. He tends to torture people when angry, and even goes as far as killing often. He is incredibly smart, but tends to show off; too much self-confidence is one of his bad traits, and has led his nemesis, Harry Potter, to be able to escape from him multiple times. He is too much of a control-freak to have friends, instead having a large army of followers, or even slaves. He is power-hungry, ruthless, and sadistic, and shows no mercy to his enemies, or even his followers. He is independent, and loyal to no one but himself. He is afraid of death and has a torn up soul. He is completely and utterly evil.
Likes: Torture, killing things, manipulation, blood purity, immortality, Horcruxes, world domination
Dislikes: Muggleborns, Muggles, his dead parents, the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter, being wrong, defeat, love, dying
Strengths: Torture, murder, magic, Occlumency, Legillimency, Parseltongue, splitting his soul
Weaknesses: Feeling love, remorse, and empathy; killing Harry Potter
History:
Lord Voldemort was born on December 31, 1926 as Tom Marvolo Riddle in Wool’s Orphanage, a muggle orphanage in London. His mother, Merope Riddle (nee Gaunt) died shortly after she gave birth, and he was left to grow up in the orphanage. There, he was bullied and tormented for being ‘different,’ but he always knew he had special abilities, even if he didn’t know what they were. He learned how to control his magic fast, and used it against the other kids at the orphanage. When he was 11, he was visited by Dumbledore in the orphanage, who told him about his powers and invited him to a school of magic, called Hogwarts.
At Hogwarts, Tom was sorted into Slytherin. He was intelligent and skilled, and was described as a “model student.” While he was at school, he began building up a group of followers, who he disguised as friends. During his sixth year, he opened the Chamber of Secrets, but was never blamed for it. That summer, he traveled to Little Hangleton to learn about his mother’s heritage and her connection to Salazar Slytherin. He also went to his father’s house during that time, and killed him and his grandparents. During his seventh year, he began his quest to make Horcruxes.
After he graduated, he worked at a shop in Knockturn Alley, Borgin and Burkes, for a short while. Once he found more valuable items, he resigned from his post and fled with them, soon making them into Horcruxes. He tried to get a job teaching in Hogwarts, but Dumbledore, who was Headmaster at the time, refused.
He rose to power as Lord Voldemort after a number of years, having built up his army of followers, called Death Eaters. The first Wizarding War began in 1970, when he recruited magical creatures, such as giants, onto his side. Ten years into the war, @snape, a loyal Death Eater, informed him of a prophecy, telling of a child born at the end of July that would grow up to defeat him.
Voldemort took this to mean Harry Potter, and immediately began to hunt the Potters down. Peter Pettigrew, a friend of the Potters, betrayed them and gave away their location to Voldemort. He went to kill them on Halloween, 1981. He was successful in killing Lily and James, but when he tried to kill the infant Harry, the curse rebounded. Voldemort, because of his Horcruxes, wasn’t killed, but was ripped from his physical form, leaving him weak and powerless.
He remained in a ghostly form until 1991, when he temporarily possessed the body of Quirinus Quirrel and tried to steal the Philosopher’s Stone, which would give him another body. Harry Potter, now eleven, stopped him. Quirrel was killed, and he was forced to flee, once again in a ghostly form. Though Potter came into contact with one of his Horcruxes a year later, the original version of him was not seen again until 1993, when Pettigrew returned to him. He obtained another temporary body, and spent the year plotting to reach Potter, with the help of Barty Crouch Jr., a loyal follower who had escaped unnoticed from Azkaban. During the third task of the Triwizard Tournament, Crouch managed to make the Triwizard Cup into a portkey, and Potter and Cedric Diggory (another Champion) were transported to the Little Hangleton graveyard. There, Voldemort and Pettigrew were waiting. Diggory was killed, and Potter was tied to a gravestone. Forcefully taking blood from Potter, digging up a bone from Tom Riddle Sr.’s grave, and using Pettigrew’s severed hand, a ritual was performed successfully, giving Voldemort a new, permanent body.
He tried to kill Potter afterwards, but the boy escaped, bringing news that Lord Voldemort had returned. The Ministry of Magic didn’t believe him, however, and Voldemort had almost a full year to plan and extend his army behind the Ministry’s back. It wasn’t until a fiasco in the Ministry of Magic, where Voldemort was trying to gain the rest of the prophecy from the Department of Mysteries, that the Ministry had proof that he had returned- only when Cornellius Fudge, the Minister himself, saw the Dark Lord with his own eyes. The Second Wizarding War had begun.
