This thread is for Hogwarts Professors. It gives basic instructions and rules for teaching, planning classes, and more. Please read this thread carefully and follow all of the rules while planning classes.
Planning classes
To plan a class, you can use the Harry Potter wiki to gather information on the subject you plan on teaching. You will want to get as much information as possible, in order for it to be a long and detailed lesson. It's always good to plan what information you will teach ahead of time. You can even write your posts with the information ahead of time and save them, and then edit them to include answers to questions and acknowledgement of students and class occurrences before posting. Lessons don't have to be extremely in depth, but there should be at least some thought behind it. We want classes to be as realistic as possible. If you teach a class that is not covered in the Wiki, you can make up something but it must be run by admins prior to the lesson.
Starting classes
After you have your course planned out, start a thread in the roster board. There, students can sign up for your classes in responses to the thread. There will be one signup for the whole year for each class, and students who sign up do so for the entire year, unless they decide to quit (in that case, they would discuss the matter with the admins and the teacher of the subject first). Students who sign up will be expected to show up for every class, so you can keep an attendance sheet saved. Points can be taken from students who don't show up to class or arrive late.
On the roster should be a description of the course, and your plans for the different lessons of the year. This does not mean the information you gather, but the topics of each class. Teaching plans should be discussed with the admins through PM first. If you teach Divination, Ancient Runes, Care of Magical Creatures, or any other elective classes, keep in mind that only students in third year and up can sign up. The date of the next class should be given to each student signed up for the class and the admins a week or more in advance. Once the class thread is started in the proper classroom, students should be given three to four days to show up before they are late, due to the different time-zones members are in.
There can be either one or multiple threads per lesson. How the students who signed up are split is determined by the teacher and discussed with the admins. They can be split by name, year, house, or any other method approved by the admins. Students should be tagged in the class threads or sent a PM as a reminder when the thread is posted. The thread should also be posted in the "Class Threads" thread. Again, three or four real life days should be given for students to show up before they are considered tardy and the lesson begins.
Other rules
Any PMs sent to students about classes should also be sent to the admins.
All lesson plans and other plans involving teaching should be discussed with the admins through PM first.
At least one lesson should be held every two months.
