Character Name: Roselle Hawthorne
Date of Birth: 19th May 1984
Age: 13
Occupation: Student
Hair: Long, straight, light brown hair down past her shoulders.
Eyes: Piercing green
Height: 5' 2"
Overall Appearence: Roselle is small and pale with spatters of freckles covering her face. She has long brown hair that she always leaves hanging down to her torso. She finds that not tying it up makes it easier to hide behind. Her piercing green eyes are wide and shining. Her mother always said that her eyes were her best feature. Roselle chooses to dress in her older brother's old clothes rather than wearing her own. She is rather skinny due to her aversion of food, so the clothes she wears are usually baggy. She chooses to wear her brother's clothes for two reasons: The first is that they are more comfortable, and still smell like he does. And the other is that it saves some money as her brother doesn't have to buy her any new clothes. Because of the fire in her home, she has a large burn mark down one side of her torso, which explains why she prefers baggy clothes, and why she doesn't like to change in front of others.
Likes: Astronomy, Reading, Declan
Dislikes: Talking, Food, Animals
Strengths: Listening/Eavesdopping, Reading People, Focusing
Weaknesses: Making friends, Trusting people, Quidditch
Overall Personality: Roselle is very shy and prefers to hide behind her hair and a good book. She stays quiet in lessons and doesn't socialise very well. She is very good at listening in on conversations that she shouldn't hear, as she is so small and quiet, meaning that she could sneak around without being heard. This could become an asset if people became aware of it. Roselle has a serious aversion to food and often forgets to eat. She struggles to eat a simple meal so knows that her brother watches her during Feasts at Hogwarts to make sure that she is eating enough. When she isn't in her lessons, she can be found in her brother's classroom, mapping out stars and drawing constellations. The astronomy tower is the only place that the young girl becomes alive, and her bright giggle can echo around the room. Just like her brother, Astronomy is her real passion and she can waste hours looking through telescopes with him. She is rather bright for her age, which could come as a surprise for the other Professors as she doesn't speak up in class to show that she knows the answers.
Parents: John and Evangeline Hawthorne.
Siblings: Declan Hawthorne- 27
Other Family Members: None
History: Roselle had a happy childhood. She grew up in a small cottage with her parents and brother. She and her brother had a very close bond, despite the huge age gap between them. She has fond memories of her childhood, especially when her and her brother would spend nights out in the field, staring up at the stars shining in the sky above them.
When her brother was 20, and she was 6, her parents were killed in a fire by Death Eaters. The Death Eaters had set their cottage on fire while her and her parents were inside. If it weren't for her elder brother who managed to carry her out, then she would probably be dead. Though she does still have a burn mark to remind her of the dreadful day. To this day, she still couldn't understand why the Death Eaters had killed her parents, as they weren't doing anything wrong. But since the day, Roselle became a sheltered version of her old self. She chose not to speak and went off her food rather quickly.
When she was accepted to Hogwarts, she was really excited because she knew that her brother would be teaching there. Even though there was 14 years between the two siblings, she still enjoyed spending time with him, but sometimes worried that she was bugging him. Because there was only the two of them, Declan had to take Roselle with her to work when she was younger- a special measure that was allowed by Dumbledore. She would just sit in his office while he taught, or would be given some money and sent to Honeyduke's for the day.
Being at Hogwarts didn't change Roselle. She still stayed mostly silent, and didn't eat much at the Feasts and Parties that were thrown. But she proved herself within her lessons, and showed a similar passion to her brother, for Astronomy.
