Name:Sybill Trelawney
Date of Birth: 9th March 1962
Age: 35
Occupation: Divination Professor at Hogwats School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Appearance-
Height: 1.73m (5' 8")
Hair: Dirty blond with hints of ginger, below the shoulders in length, very frizzy, it is stooped from falling in eyes by a head scarf/band style thing or sometimes the front is tied to the side.
Eyes: blue eyes, it is hard to determine the exact shape due to the fact that she wears large round milk bottle glasses that magnify her eyes, though she does have quite wide eyes which gives her a permanent look of surprise and wonder.
Overall Appearance: The over all appearance of Professor Trelawney is that she is a bit if a hippie, wearing mis-match clothes and shawls, all in very earthy colours, she doesn't give the idea that she is very threatening, she can be very jumpy which gives her a on-edge sort of look, kind of like a scared mouse who scarcely leaves home.
Personality: Professor Trelawney is quite frightened of the world around her which is why she rarely leaves here classroom except when absolutely necessary for things like the sorting ceremony, and food. She can however be quite brutal with her analysis of people, sometimes without even knowing. She is a dreamer, with the air of someone who walks in two worlds, ours and that of the spirits. She is very superstitious and will do anything to avoid a situation that could lead to bad luck.
Likes: She likes the smell of candles and inscents, she is partial to loose tea as well. She likes dimly lit warm places with lots of soft, comfy, old fashioned furniture, somewhere where she feels safe and cocooned. When it comes to her teaching career she likes students with open minds who understand about divination.
Dislikes: going outside, social interaction, Hermione Granger, Doloras Umbridge, tea bags (they are ruining the art of tea leaf reading!) she also dislikes the Grimm and bad luck
Strengths: She is good at making people feel welcome in her class, making them feel safe and secure. Being able to make predictions, secret ninja skills
Weaknesses: Not being able to remember when she has made a really important prediction, social interaction, confrontation, standing up for herself when confronted with a enemy that she can't simply fight but has to talk to and debate with.
History: Sybill was born the only child of Sidney and Bill Trelawney who both were talented when it comes to divination, they taght he pr the ways of both our world and the spirit world, raising her in a small cottage miles away from anywhere, by the age of 7 she was more talented at divination than most students in their final year at Hogwats! She had lived her life knowing only magic, sports, how to live off the land and love, until that night. Her parents had taken her to a carnival that was not to far off, this was one of the rare times that they ventured away from the cottage. When they got there they were amazed, and slightly terrified be the bright lights and blaring music. they had a wonderful night, going on all the rides, but they stayed too late. For they didn't know that all the peaceful people should be sadly home by 9. They were having too ,ugh fun to notice the sudden drop in other families, in fact they didn't notice that anything was wrong until they loud rude voices rose louder than the music blaring from the speakers. As they looked around they they realised that all the other people were drunk men yelling and fighting, they started to hurry away, but just as they reached to edge of the crowd, about to make their way to the near by town to find refuge, a man grabbed Sybills arm. In sheer fear she let out a piercing scream, getting not only her terrified parents attention, but also most of the other drunks "what have we got here then?" Learned the man who was still gripping Sybills arm. "P-p-p-please we don't want any trouble" her father stuttered, his wife cowering behind him. The man lunged at Bill, grabbing his collar, however this made him loosen his grip on Sybill who broke free. "Run Sybill, RUN" her mother screamed pushing her in front of her so that the advancing yobs grabbed her instead, but Sybill did as she was told and ran, she kept running until she reached the town. Some of the drunks had tried to follow her, but her parents had taught her well and so, without using any magic she had managed to dissapere into nature compleatly. When she reached to town she banged on the first door she came to and begged for refuge, luckily the house belonged to an old lady who brought Sybill inside and offered her some tea to help calm her nerves. Then Sybill stuttered and stumbled her way through the terrifying ordeal. Once she had heard the story the old lay said that they had to go to the police to tell them what had happened. So she walked Sybil, to the police station and she had to tell her story over and over. Then they said they would look for her parents in the morning but for now she had to go to the children's home. At first Sybill didn't understand, she had never heard of a 'children's home' before and tried to explain that she already had a home, but it was no use and they carted her off to this big building with cols bricks and harsh bright lights. Sybill didn't like it at this Home and cried and begged to go back to her real home. But they kept saying no, then they showed her where she would be staying, in the attic, a dusty room that hadn't been used in ages, but it was the only one free. Then they put her to bed in borrowed pyjamas, noting at all like her soft nightlys at home. They tuned out the lights, mother and father always left a little lamp burning for her. Then they went out and locked the door, mother and father never locked her in, they said it was rule. That night, Sybill cried herself to sleep, alone in the dark room in borrowed pyjamas. The last thing she remembered was praying to all the spirit as for her parents to be safe and for them to come and take her home.
The spirts weren't listening.
the next morning her parents bodies were foun in the field over from where the carnival had been. Her father had been stabbed five times in the stomach and left for dead, her mother, who had tried to use magic to save them, was burnt at the stake, he last screams still lingered in the air, terror immortalised on her face.
After that Sybill had to stay in the children's home, eventually the dusty dark attic became filled with the possessions that belonged to her parents, however, she couldn't escape the other children, most of them were boys and all of them were older than her, the few girls would just sit around and giggle about boys, not to be bothered by some little grubby hippy girl! The boys however paid more attentions, they would break into her room and mess up her stuff, they would push her around, not let her eat for days on end and they were constantly taunting her and making fun of her glasses which were now held togetherby glue and masking tape. many days she would barricade herself into her room to protect herself, slowly turning into a terrified child who would jump at the slightest movement of noise.
This torment went on for 4 years, her only relief was that the old lady, Molly, who's house she had run to, would have her over for tea and cake once a month. But Molly died 3 years after Sybill had got to the children's home. School was bad too, children would make fun of her because of the way she dressed, because she lived in a children's home and for any other reason they could think of, she didn't have any friends because the bullies would scare them all into ignoring her. Sybill's only release was gazing into her crystal ball, or practising with her tarot cards or brewing tea only to read the leaves. Sybill thought that this was what the rest of her life would be like, until one day...
Sybill was locked in her room brewing sone loose tea when there came a knock at the door, the sudden sound caused ther to nearly spill the boiling water everywhere as she lifted the kettle off the little stove she stuttered a reply and the door swung open... Oh, it was only matron, Sybill turned back to what she was doing then matron said something which surprised her even more than the knock had "Sybill, make yourself look presentable, you have a visitor!" With this matron cast a wondering eye to doorway before sweeping out and down the stairs. As Sybill looked into the crystal ball on the table she saw the reflection of an old man, dressed in bright robes. For some unknown reason Sybill didn't feel worried, in fact she felt at peace, something she hadn't felt science her parents died.
"please, come in and have some tea, she said very quietly, but without stuttering, as she gestured to the cushion that was across the table from her. The old man didn't say anything, he only closed the door and came and sat down. Then in a soft soothing voice he asked "so Sybill are you going to read my tea leaves?" For some reason his voice gave her confidence and she answer."if you want me to..." Then she looked straight into his piercing blue eyes "professor Albus Dumbledore!" Now this took him by suprise, though he quickly masked it with a smile and a chuckle "you are good ain't you Sybill? Just like your parents, they would of been so proud!" Now it was Sybil's turn to be surprised, this strange old man had known her parents? As if sensing her question Albus proceeded to explain how he was the headmaster of Hogwarts and how her parents had attended Hogwarts, he then went on to explain that she had a place there and that she could always call Hogwarts home.
That September she was ready to leave, although she would be back in the summer, most of her divination equipment, along with all her school stuff was packed safely into her trunk. Everyone at the Home thought that she had won a scholarship to an elite boring school, and that she would be back ing the summer. Soon she was on platform 93/4, after following some snooty pure bloods through the barrier. Once she was on the train she found a carriage that was empty and sat down, she was tired and soon found herself drifting away. When she awoke it was dusk and the carriage was still empty except for her and one other girl, this girl was staring at her inter sly, she was slight with silvery long hair. At first Sybill was scared, but then the girl offered her a chocolate frog and from that their friendship began
This girl was Stella McAlthly, her and Sybill became best friends and were both sorted into Ravenclaw, through out her years at Hogwarts Sybills confidence and powers increased until she graduated top of divination and astronomy, she had already been offered the job as the new divinations teacher because Professor Loulun was retiring to Spain. She made good friends whilst at Hogwarts and is an avid penpaller with the them. Her best friend Stella is currently living in France because her three daughters, all of whom are Sybills Godchildren, have won full scholarships to Beauxbatons Acadamy.
