Sydney wandered about the showing room, that was her nickname for the place, she didn't know what ir's real name was, but they were supposed to stay in this room all day while couples looking to adopt came in and chose among the kids there. Sydney was never picked, either because she was too old or that she was going to a boarding school always threw them off. But today was different, somehow, she just knew it, it was just a subtle thing in the back of her mind, she just had a good feeling about today. At around 3:25 two people approached her, the woman looked to be in her early thirties while the man appeared to be only a bit older. "Excuse me, what's your name?" said the girl, Sydney gave a start, nobody ever asked her what her name was, even at school.
"Um, Sydney, Sydney Rae," she said and smiled, "I'm Emily, and this is my husband Robert," said the woman, the Matron was looking over at her, it was expected, given thet whenever Sydney spoke to a couple, she always drove them away, and Miss May didn't like that. But this couple didn't do that, they seemed to be liking her more and more as she told them about herself, and Sydney found herself liking them too. They had no problem with the fact that she would be gone most of the year, as long as Sydney would come back at Christmases and any other time she could. They liked that she was a bit older, they said that it would maker her easier to handle, she found out that Emily had recently had a miscarriage, and that she would break down whenever she saw a baby, so they were looking for an older kid.
Long story short, an hour later Sydney was sitting in the back of a car heading towards her new parents house. She couldn't believe her luck! She had been stuck in that orphanage for years, and now here she was, finally free! She started giggling when they arrived at the house, Sydney stepped out of the car and blanched when she saw a girl that she shared a dorm with. A dormmate, at Hogwarts, in the yard next to Sydney's new home, Sydney grinned and waved to her, "Fancy seeing you here!"

I see you've made a friend already, well. that's good," he said, Scottish accent apparent, "Come on, we have a room for you, all it really has is a bed right now, but we'll get some more stuff tomorrow." He said and went inside, Sydney turned to She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, "Well, I guess that we're following Robert then!"
